XLWales brings the excitement of coding/programming to your school using the app-enabled, robotic ball, Sphero.

Foundation Phase and KS2 pupils use an app to plan, test and modify sequences of instructions to control Sphero. The block-based language requires no previous experience and pupils can immediately see what their commands do as Sphero responds and moves.

The Sphero challenge is completely mobile, utilising an app on an iPad, tablet or mobile phone, so can be used in the classroom, hall or even outside!

Comment from an ICT co-ordinator – “We recently had a visit from XLWales to have a session on programming. We used Sphero, some incredible technology, which the children found easy to use, while also being very responsive. We can’t wait to get them in again and share it with the whole school!”

Why book a visit?

  • all equipment and expertise is provided by XLWales
  • visits are affordable, cost effective and exciting

  • it is suitable for Foundation Phase and KS2

Initially, this new challenge will only be available to Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend and The Vale schools. We are hoping to have another set of equipment very soon so that we can offer the challenge to all primary schools across South and West Wales.
