For the past 5 years XLWales have been delivering IT courses and projects within the community.
Examples of previous courses delivered include:
Basic IT Courses for Beginners
Each week covers an aspect to help people get the most out of their computers at home including knowing basics of the computer or laptop e.g opening programs, How to get started with Microsoft word, Setting up an email account, Internet searching and Digital Cameras.
Family Learning Courses
Working with family learning groups to teach both the children and adults to use a PDA, Personal Digital Assistant, like a hand help laptop. Increased confidence in IT skills with the adults and taught the children new skills as well.
Communities@One PDA Project
18 month project training groups from Communities First areas in Swansea to learn basic IT skills using a PDA. The groups then used the PDAs to record IT facilities in their areas, this information was then used to create their own page on the website Swansea ICT Map
Sessions have also been delivered on Facebook, Friends Reunited, Text Ease and Microsoft Powerpoint.
We tailor the courses to the needs of the participants. All courses are informal and non accredited and can be used as a stepping stone for people interested in learning more about IT but don’t want to initially sign up to a formal course.
We can develop courses on Microsoft packages, Digital Photography, Internet, Mobile technology e.g. Mobile phones and PDAs and many other areas
